It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…but is your home ready?

The official countdown to Christmas has begun! For us, it was sparked by the release of the much-anticipated John Lewis festive ad (#ExcitableEdgar is a big hit in our office!) and we can hardly believe four doors are already open on our advent calendars!

The big day is most definitely in sight and with that, the panic sets in. Have we ordered enough food? Will the dog eat the Christmas tree again?

Why oh why did we agree to host this year?!

Christmas is a time to spend together, and what’s better than sitting down to that big roast Turkey (or vegetarian alternative if that’s more your cup of tea) with parents, grandparents, children - and a sprinkling of good friends and neighbours for good measure. But, for many families, the lead up to the festivities brings a sense of dread - how are you going to fit everyone in?

Of course, there are ways round it - plates on knees, taking it in turns or approach. But, how dreamy would it be to have that extra room to relax, eat and celebrate in?

Let’s be honest, Christmas is full of festive cheer - plenty of chocolate, mulled wine, and pigs in blankets - but with a crowded house comes meltdowns, chaos and squabbling.

So, why not avoid a few of those issues with some extra space next Christmas?

For a small (3x3m) single storey rear extension, our fees start from just £649. That would give you everything you need to approach builders, with the build then costing around £20k - for more information on costs and a more accurate quote, please use this handy calculator.

One of our recent clients said: “I’ve got my parents coming to us for Christmas this year for the first time and it was something I was quite stressed out about. It’s only an extra two people but we were already pushed for space, with our dining table in the middle of our lounge!

“With The Practical Planning Company’s help, we’ve added a small extension on the back of our house, which has created the extra space we needed without breaking the bank. The plans were ready within a fortnight and because it was a simple job, the room was built and ready in under eight weeks - in plenty of time for this Christmas. Now, we can’t wait for the festivities to start - no more stress!”

So, if you’re hosting this year, enjoy it and try to keep the stress at bay. Let this year be the practice year and tell everyone how amazing Christmas 2020 will be in your new dream dining room!
